Battle in the Bronx

NYC’s CHSAA has drawn major crowds for its basketball matchups. Christ the King alumnae Sue Bird was recently on television as she was at UConn to celebrate the Huskies’ 100th consecutive victory. There are a plethora of pros who have dribbled and shot their way through the CHSAA in their formative years. The latest buzz comes from St. Raymond’s standout and University of Minnesota commit Isaiah Washington whose “Jellyfam” wave has taken the whole country by storm. Fans throughout New York City are mimicking his swooping George “The Iceman” Gervin-esque gliding finger roll and coming to St. Ray’s games for a glimpse and an autograph.

On this particular day Monsignor Scanlan hosted St. Rays for a battle of the Bronx. With two early emphatic Scanlan dunks the energy was sizzling. In the end, St. Ray’s emerged with the victory as the regular season winded down and both teams were prepping for the playoffs. See below for some of my shots from the sidelines.
