NYC Playgrounds During Quarantine

After several weeks of quarantine, I stepped out for a brief gasp of fresh air, through my mask of course, and I decided to visit and check in on some courts in Harlem. What I found was sad, but also imbued resilience.

Some rims were sealed, covered up. Others, completely removed leaving only the backboard. These hallowed grounds that I love and consider home are off limits. The statistics on the covid-19 virus are ubiquitous and staggering.

But something about seeing these courts in the mecca of the game stripped of their rims up close really affected me. And yet they stand tall, like a solid rock in a strom, ready to survive and be there for us once we all overcome the pandemic.

Here are some of the images I made in my short escape to the one place that has always been my sanctuary in the best and worst of times.
